Internet Now Favourite Medium To Hunt For Choice Properties

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- Gone are the days when newspapers and signboards were the main channels Malaysians look for choice properties as the Internet is now the favourite medium for property hunting.

A survey by the real estate website iProperty.com showed that 50 percent of the respondents were using the web as the first medium they turn to when starting their property search.

iProperty.com, in a statement here Tuesday, said the survey also revealed that "as many as 86 percent use it to look for properties on sale."

"Like their foreign counterparts, they use the internet extensively for a variety of other purposes: research property market trends (55 percent), read property news (51), research developers (49), research financing options (32) and search for property agents (19)."

"When asked why the Internet is their preferred medium for conducting their property hunt, respondents indicated the following reasons: speed and convenience (82 percent), 24x7 availability (70), ability to view properties through photos (63), better way to get updated on the latest properties for sale (54) and better selection (44)," it said.

"Fifteen percent revealed that it was because they were located overseas, revealing that many Malaysians living overseas are using the Internet to hunt for properties back home," the portal said.
